Little Boracay, Jomalig Island

Last holy week, I went to a place called Jomalig Island. Jomalig Island is about 75 nautical miles (139 km) southeast of Polillo Islands. Getting there is not that easy. Estimated travel time from Manila is 8 hours, 3 hours land travel from Manila to Real Quezon where you will be taking a boat going to the Island. Usual travel time from Real port to Jomalig Island is 5 hours. sometimes it may reach 8 hours depending on the weather condition.

Jomalig's Golden sand

We Arrived at Real port at 4:30am, first boat going to Jomalig is usually departs at 5-5:30 in the morning so make sure you go early to catch the first trip. The fare is 400 peses one way. Travel time is 4-5 hours.

When we got in the Island, We pay 170 pesos for the "Environmental fee" and we rode "Habal-habal" motorcycle going to the resort. The fare is 60 pesos per head.

We arrived at Homaligaya Resort at 11:30am and fix our things and prepare food. You can buy raw foods on the we market near the port because the price of food in the island is quite expensive. We rent a room "kubo style room" there and the price is very cheap its only 500 pesos good for 3 days. The electricity in the island is from 1pm-5am the next day. Be sure to charge your gadgets when the electricity is on.

Expenses & Places to go:

Transportation:

Bus or Van from Manila to Real port: 200-250 pesos per pax 1 way

Boat from Real port to Jomalig Island: 400 pesos per pax w/ free meal

Habal-habal: 60 pesos per pax

Island tour (Habal-habal): 600 pesos per pax.

Where to stay:

There are several resorts at Salibungot Beach. If you're up to more adventure you can pitch a tent on the shore. Typical "kubo" there usually range from 400-600 pesos its already good for 2-3 days stay.

Where to eat:

You can bring food there since the location is isolated, there are limited food supplies in the island and its cost more expensive because the goods there are being transported using boat. Retail stores are available there and other resorts offers food. it costs 100 pesos per meal. at our case, we have raw foods there and they let us cook there using their cooking wares and stoves.

Extra fees:

Upon entry to Jomalig Island, local government units of the island requires us to pay 170 pesos, this is for the environmental fee. They use the funds to maintain the orderliness and the beauty of the island.

Leave no Trace

Lets be a responsible traveler. Remember that all litters, small or big can cause harm to our nature. We pay fees to preserve its beauty then we can't be responsible to our trash. Bring garbage bin to place all your trashes there, Let's make sure that we leave no single trash not only in the beach but all the places within the vicinity.
